Work continues in JC on West Walnut Street project
Work is underway to install a crosswalk on West Walnut Street at University Parkway in Johnson City. The City of Johnson City said Thursday that contractors’ work on the project will impact traffic in the area. Officials say drivers will not be able to access West Walnut from University for about three weeks. The recently restructured area of University will also be repaved later this month, between West State of Franklin Road and Southwest Avenue. That part of the project will start on November 18. Repaving will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day depending on weather. During repaving, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction. Congestion is expected at motorists are being urged to find other routes if possible
