Weber City discontinues garbage collection for residents

The town of Weber City, Virginia announced on social media that trash collection services for residents will end on Dec. 31st.

Property owners will have to arrange for trash pick-up from the town’s vendor New Life Garbage in Kingsport at a cost of $20 per month or transport their trash to a local convenience center.

The statement said residents do not have to return their garbage cans. In July, town leaders announced fees for trash service would not be included in future real estate tax tickets and listed increasing costs as a reason for the dismissal.
