VDOE to lead discussion on school cell phone use

Virginia First Lady Suzanne Youngkin and the Virginia Department of Education will lead a fireside chat on school cell phone use on September 19. Youngkin and social psychologist, author and researcher Dr. Jonathan Haidt will discuss the findings of Haidt’s book, “The Anxious Generation,” and how it informs communities and schools in limiting social media and phone use to help restore childhood and play. Bristol, Virginia Public Schools is hosting the viewing and is open to community members, parents and guardians. It’s scheduled from 7 – 9 p.m. at Virginia Intermediate School.
