VA Governor Northam declares October as Virginia is for Lovers, Not Litter Month
The Virginia Department of Transportation says Governor Northam proclaimed this month as Virginia is for Lovers, Not Litter Month. This year is the first celebration of this month-long initiative to raise awareness about the harms of litter. Virginia officials say nearly $3.5 million is spent each year cleaning up litter on the state’s roadways, but the true cost of litter lies within our health and the environment’s health. Organizing agencies encourage all Virginians to do their part to keep the Commonwealth litter-free by taking the No Love for Litter Pledge on the Lovers not Litter website.
