UPDATE: Richmond judge approves joint plan to clean-up and close Bristol landfill
A Richmond City judge has approved an agreement between the City of Bristol Virginia and Attorney General Jason Miyares that he says holds the city responsible to complete plans to close their landfill.
That state-sanctioned relief includes completing a sidewall odor mitigation system by June 14, deploying an ethyl vinyl alcohol cover, submitting a stormwater management plan, and continuing drilling wells to remove gas and liquids from the landfill.
State environment director Michael Roiband says the court order and the work of the attorney general should show Bristol residents they will not stop until the landfill issues are resolved.
