UPDATE: Attempted murder suspect trial set for November in Carter County

A Carter County suspect accused of shooting and stabbing his girlfriend one year ago had his trial date scheduled by a criminal court judge.

Proceedings will begin Nov. 28th against Lanny “Bubba” Markland who is charged with attempted first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and interfering with an emergency call.

The October incident took place at a home on Blue Springs Road. Police said the victim withheld information about Markland in fear of her and her children being harmed by the suspect.
