Tyler Lee Owens trial day 2 update

The trial of Tyler Lee Owens, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Stacie Brugger, continued Tuesday at the Unicoi County courthouse. Witness testimony told told the story of Brugger and Owens arguing over text messages with Brugger eventually going to Owen’s camper, where an altercation took place and Brugger was shot and killed. Audio recordings of police interviews with Owens found that he admitted to arguing with Brugger, with Brugger pointing a gun at her head with Owens trying to get the firearm when it discharged, killing Brugger. Owens repeatedly told the officers on the recordings that he was scared to call police because he had active warrants out of North Carolina. Owens is facing 14 charges. He pleaded not guilty to nine of those charges, including first-degree murder.
