Tennessee defensive leader’s status to be determined following felony arrest for assault
A team captain for the Tennessee Volunteers was arrested late Sunday and charged with aggravated assault following an incident at a Knoxville apartment complex.
Police said Jaylen McCollough, 21, punched a man who had mistakenly entered the player’s room. Investigators said the victim had been drinking with friends on the property prior to his injuries and having several teeth knocked out.
Head Coach Josh Heupel said at a Monday news conference that he will update McCollough’s playing status for Saturday’s contest with No. 3 Alabama this week.
