TBI investigating officer involved shooting in Johnson City
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in Johnson City early Sunday. The TBI is leading the investigation into the shooting, which took place near a gas station on South Roan Street. The incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday. Earlier in the night, officers responded to a domestic violence call near West Walnut Street and later saw the subject near West Walnut Street and South Roan Street, where he allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers and at least one officer then fired at the subject, who ran from the location. The officers continued to pursue him before an encounter behind the gas station near South Roan Street and Pine Street where the subject allegedly pointed the firearm at officers for the second time, resulting in at least one officer firing at him. The subject was hit and injured. No officers were injured in the incident. The TBI said it is working to determine the series of events that led to the shooting.
