Suspects jailed after gun fired at bail bondsman in Wise County

Wise County Sheriff Grant Kilgore provided more detail of a weekend standoff in Coeburn where a bail bondsman was met with gunfire.

The incident took place on Guest River Road and the company was there to take Samuel Smith, 46, of Norton, into custody for bond violations. The preliminary review said Smith fired his weapon. He was taken into custody but a woman inside, Rebecca Pogue, 26, refused to surrender. She was arrested after five hours of negotiations with police.
