Sullivan County Sheriff Cassidy says jailbreak was result of facility failure and human error
Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy released an update Wednesday morning giving more insight to how three inmates escaped last week, and what the Sheriff’s Office is doing to further secure the facility. Sheriff Cassidy says that all heating and air vents in the Sullivan County Jail have since been inspected and better-secured.
He goes on to say his office is conducting an internal review in hopes of preventing another escape, and that it was determined a combination of facility failure and human error resulted in the inmates’ escape. Finally, Sheriff Cassidy reminds the public that assisting the final escapee, Johnny Brown, with evading arrest is a punishable crime.
