NEW: Bristol, Tennessee files for injunction in federal court to stop Bristol, Virginia landfill operations

Unsatisfied with past and current results, Bristol, Tennessee leaders have taken their sister city Bristol, Virginia to federal court over their landfill operations.

The suit claims violations of the federal Clear Air Act and the Resource Conservation Recovery Act, calling current Bristol, Virginia operations a public danger created by improper management, and is asking the court to order Bristol, Virginia to stop accepting waste at its landfill and suspend operations.

Bristol, Tennessee is seeking to collect thousands in damages due to health problems caused by the foul odors coming from the landfill that has now lingered for two years.
