Marion, Virginia apartment building evacuated to inspect suspicious package

One segment of a Smyth County, Virginia apartment complex was evacuated as a precaution as safety personnel examined a suspicious package on its grounds.

A spokesperson for the town of Marion said there is no current danger to the public while crews examine the item located at the 1700 block of Marion Manor Road.

The report said further information would be released later in the day following the investigation by the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office.
