Kingsport to spend $3 million on water meter replacement
The City of Kingsport will spend $3 million this year to replace 14,500 water meters throughout the city due to failing batteries. Officials say meters that were installed in 2009 allow workers to simply drive by and get a reading, however failing batteries have caused some inconsistencies in customers’ water bills.
The city has already replaced more than 5,000 meters, and plans to have all of them replaced by the end of June. Those with questions can contact the city by visiting KingsportTN.gov.
