JC BOE picks new superintendent

The Johnson City Board of Education has selected a new superintendent of schools. Board members voted 6–1 on Thursday to offer the position to Erin Slater. Slater is currently the Fort Madison Community School District superintendent in Iowa. Board members interviewed the three finalists for the position earlier this week. School board members chose Slater because of her experience of having many different leadership roles in education. School board members will vote on finalizing Slater’s contract at their meeting on April 7 and they hope she can begin her role before or on July 1st.
