Greene County company could be affected by halt in penny production

President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to halt penny production could affect operations at Artazn LLC in Greene County, the only manufacturer of penny blanks in the United States. Artazn has been in business for over 50 years. They are the only manufacturer of U.S. Pennies. The company also produces foreign currencies, automotive parts and other zinc products. President and CEO Jeff Taylor said the announcement is disappointing and says it’s too early to determine the impact, but hopes that the impact will be minimal because of the production diversity at the facility. He also said it’s too early to tell if any jobs will be affected.
