Fatal I-81 accident shuts down Southbound Lanes Wednesday evening

More details have been released about a fatal crash Wednesday around 8 p.m. on interstate 81. Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes near the 30-mile marker in Washington County. A box truck was travelling north on Interstate 81 when it went off of the left side of the road, through the median, and struck a pickup that was traveling south on the Interstate. Both vehicles then overturned. The driver of box truck 56 year old Saiid Gamure of Clarksville, Ga., died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
