Carter County opens warming stations as winter cold returns

Warming stations are opening in Carter County this week as a blast of arctic air moves into the region. The stations will open Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Deliverance Church of God on First Ave. in Hampton and at Doe River Baptist on Avon Ave. in Elizabethton. The stations will remain open until January 5 at 8 a.m. and if the temperature remains below 25 degrees, the stations will stay open past Sunday.
