Bulls Gap students rescued from school bus surrounded by floodwaters
Water rescue teams were dispatched to Hawkins County for the second time this week—this time to help evacuate a school bus surrounded by floodwaters.
A report from county emergency management said the evacuation took place in the Bulls Gap area and required portions of Highway 113 and Highway 66 to be closed down to provide safe conditions for rescuers on Saint Clair Road.
All students were safely taken off the bus and transported back to their school.
The decision was made mid-morning to close school for the remainder of the day and Friday due to concerns over rising waters and runoff.
