Bristol Virginia Raising Funds For Train Station Restoration In Hopes Of Return Of Rail Service
The Bristol Train Station, built in 1856 provided passenger rail service through 1971. And now there is a chance to see that service return. Bristol Virginia City Council members have approved a formal endorsement for a fundraising campaign to restore the 150 year old landmark. The council and the Bristol Train Station Foundation is raising money to make improvements at the station is preparation for the possible return of passenger service to Bristol. The Federal Rail Administration has approved Virginia’s statewide rail plan that calls for passenger service from Washington D.C to Bristol, Virginia
