Man convicted in fentanyl overdose death
A man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the death of a 23-year-old Johnson City man in 2021. The office of First Judicial District Attorney General Steven Finney says a jury found Christopher Brian Jones guilty of second-degree murder by fentanyl overdose and other charges on January 16. The murder conviction stems from the “overdose homicide of Isaiah Beatty” in November 2021. Beatty was found dead by his family on the morning of November 1. Jones was arrested on November 4, 2021. Police found fentanyl, methamphetamine, fake Xanax pills, propofol, drug paraphernalia and several guns after executing a search warrant at his Jonesborough residence. The jury returned a guilty verdict on all charges against Jones.
