Lawsuit seeking new JC election has been dismissed
A lawsuit seeking to re-run the Johnson City election was dismissed Tuesday. The decision was based not on whether alleged improper votes altered results but on who has the right to sue. The verdict came after two hours of arguments. It was brought by three Johnson City school board candidates and one commission candidate, who represented themselves in court. The suit was filed after WCYB reported that Carter County election officials gave 44 people Johnson City ballots who do not live in Johnson City. The candidates used a portion of that report in their argument, but the dismissal means there will be no ruling on the actual evidence.
