Virginia budget approved by lawmakers
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin signed a new state budget passed by the Virginia General Assembly that includes more than $2 billion in K-12 public education funding. It also includes 3% pay raises for teachers and state employees in the next two fiscal years, which starts July 1 and runs until June 30, 2026. Lawmakers and Youngkin praised the cooperative approach both sides took during the new budget talks, but still noted their differences and what each was able to carve out in the compromise budget.
