Recent Virginia Pot Survey, Found “Troubling”

A recent survey in Virginia on Marijuana use while driving shows some Virginian’s don’t think the issue is a serious problem. But the agency that oversees recreational pot use in the Commonwealth says the survey is troubling. Only 26 percent of those surveyed viewed driving under the influence of pot as extremely dangerous, compared to 60 percent for texting, and 49 percent for alcohol impaired driving. Additionally, about one third of survey respondents believe those who consume pot tend to drive slower, and more cautiously and are safer drivers. Virginia’s Cannabis Control Authority disagrees and says pot can impact the brain in terms of making informed decisions and because pot is legal doesn’t mean its safe.
