Dobyns-Bennett Principal Named Interim Superintendent

As expected, the Kingsport Board of Education Tuesday evening named Dobyns-Bennett High School Principal Dr. Chris Hampton as interim superintendent of Kingsport City Schools. Hampton was given a 160 thousand dollar base salary, which runs through June of 2023. Hampton’s contract includes an automobile allowance and home office allowance. The board voted four to one to name Hampton as interim superintendent, replacing Dr. Jeff Moorehouse who is retiring at the end of the month. Hampton begins his new duties November 1.
