Man jailed after repeatedly falling asleep in Hawkins County Sessions Court
A man is in jail in Hawkins County after police say he was falling asleep while in court. Herbert Mark Jarnigan was seen asleep when deputies asked the audience at the beginning of Monday’s General Sessions Court to rise.
An officer had to approach Jarnagin to wake him up and tell him to remain awake for the duration of court. He continued to fall asleep and after the session was done, deputies conducted a field sobriety test, which Jarnagin failed. He was booked into the Hawkins County Jail for public intoxication.
