Kingsport Police Department receives more than $100,000 in ARPA funding
The Kingsport Police Department received just over $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds, which was used to purchase an array of new equipment and send an officer to Oak Ridge to study with the National Forensic Academy.
Equipment purchased includes communication headsets for the SWAT team, military-grade indoor drones, and new officer uniforms. Additionally, trauma kits, mobile radar units, and security cameras are being purchased with the funds. Kingsport Police say the equipment will help the department do a safer and better job than they currently do.
