Kingsport’s historic State Theatre to receive full renovation, rooftop venue addition

The Downtown Kingsport Association announced that TriCon Builders, LLC was awarded the contract to renovate the historic State Theatre in Kingsport. The association says over social media the theatre will be completely renovated, with the addition of a new rooftop venue.

The State Theatre was constructed in 1936 on Broad Street, where it has since housed many things from movie screenings, a nightclub, and a gymnasium. The current owner plans to restore it for its original purpose as a theatre. The Downtown Kingsport Association says it’s celebrating this exciting new development in the city, and looks forward to many more.
