SWVA COVID Cases Down, Deaths Show Increase Due To Omicron Variant Peak
Southwest Virginia reported 147 new cases of COVID19 to end the week on a continued decline of new cases, but the nine county region is experiencing an an increase in deaths, due to the surge and peak of the Omicron Variant in January. The region’s seven day rolling average of new cases of 482 is well below its highest number of more than one thousand six hundred and is a 42 percent decline from just one week ago.
