$485 MILLION: A new handle record for Virginia sportsbooks
Betters continue to set handle records as the NFL playoffs led more players to Virginia sportsbooks in January.
A report from the Virginia Lottery says Virginians wagered $485 million between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31—up 14 percent from December and a new monthly record for the Commonwealth.
Bettors took home $446 million during the period and since last year gamers have wagered more than $3.7 billion.
