Wythe County officers have standoff with suspect at daycare with fully-loaded weapons

A Southwest Virginia man is charged after officers found him with a loaded rifle and handgun near a daycare center.
Justin Jay Reed, 27, was apprehended on Apache Run following a standoff with deputies at Clinch Valley Community Action Daycare in Wythe County. A lockdown of nearby Fort Chiswell High School was triggered before Reed’s arrest and school bus drivers were told to avoid the area.
A chief officer said Reed was charged with four felonies including possessing a weapon on school property and brandishing a firearm near a school to induce fear.
