Water line issues continue in Carter County due to cold weather
Residents in the Stoney Creek community of Carter County are experiencing outages and low water pressure due to leaks caused by the frigid temperatures. Crews are working around the clock to repair those leaks. The First Utility District is seeing excessive use and are asking customers to look for possible leaks on their property. About 700 homes are affected and at least 300 customers were found to have leaks on their side of the water lines. The utility posted on its website that any customers with water should boil it before drinking. No timeline for getting the leaks repaired has been announced, but warmer weather will help identify leaks as ice in the frozen pipes begins to melt.
