VSP Urging Motorists, Celebrate Smart, Safe, And Sober

During last year’s four day independence Day observance, Virginia State Police reported 12 traffic deaths on Virginia Highways. Troopers also arrested 61 drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs and cited more than four thousand speeders. VSP, are hoping to reduce those numbers this year with the Celebrate Smart, Safe and Sober extended holiday weekend campaign. Virginia State Police will increase patrols from 1201 a.m. Friday through midnight Monday July 4 as part of Operation CARE.
