Virginia Senate approves timeline change to retail marijuana sales from 2024 to this September
The Virginia Senate is willing to speed up the path to recreational sales of marijuana in the Commonwealth by two years.
An amended bill was passed 23-16 and now heads to the House for consideration that would place retail sales of marijuana in medical dispensaries this September.
The push barely made it out of a Senate subcommittee with an 8-7 vote with Southwest Virginia Senator Todd Pillion voting against the measure.
The General Assembly approved the production, sale, and possession of recreational marijuana last session and placed the start of retail sales in 2024.
