Virginia Reports First Pediatric Flu Death
The Virginia Department of Health is reporting Virginia’s first pediatric Flu death of the 2022 flu season. A child under five years of age, from Central Virginia has died from complications associated with influenza. The department did not release any further medical information about the child’s symptoms. Virginia, so far has investigated a total of 23 flu outbreaks during this flu season. On average, three flu related pediatric deaths are reported each year in the Commonwealth. The VDH urges those six months of age and older to reduce their risk of being infected by receiving the flu vaccine.
