Virginia Moving Closer To De-Privatizing DOC Medical Services
The Commonwealth of Virginia is edging closer to de-privatizing health care services for inmates in its statewide prisons system. A decision upheld by the Virginia Supreme Court now allows the Virginia Department of Corrections to proceed with the termination of Armor Correctional Health who was providing the services. The Department of Corrections will now contract with VitalCore Health Strategies as its interim provider while Correctional officials prepare to fully assume responsibility for delivering healthcare services to the nearly 25 thousand inmates in state custody.
