Virginia Fall Wildfire Season Now Underway
Burning debris is the leading cause of wildfires in Virginia and fire officials are providing tips to prevent those fires now that the Commonwealth is in the Fall Wildfire season. If you are going to be burning debris you should avoid so during dry, windy conditions as well as keeping debris in small piles, keep a rake and shovel on hand, have water nearby, as well as a phone, stay with the fire or consider a green alternative to burning. Officials remind residents while there is no statewide four pm burn ban this fall you should check with local fire officials for regional restrictions. Fall wildfire season runs through November.
