UPDATE: Castlewood woman pleads guilty to 2020 murder

A Russell County, Virginia woman admitted to killing her estranged boyfriend in a shopping center parking lot in October of 2020.

Brenda Jane Hicks, 65, of Castlewood, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and shooting in a public place causing injury and will be sentenced in Circuit Court on July 7th.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Zach Stoots said Hicks called 911 shortly after she fired several shots into a truck operated by 73-year-old William Bailey as he drove across the property.
