Two Sullivan County school system employees booked for child abuse on same day

A difficult and astonishing day for the Sullivan County school system with two employees at different schools turning themselves in for allegedly assaulting students on campus.
Following an investigation by the Student Resource Officer at Bluff City Elementary, a charge of child abuse was lodged against 38-year-old Margaret Widener Osborne—a teaching assistant whose arrest warrant was filed Wednesday morning.
The other case involves a substitute teacher employed at Holston Elementary in Blountville. Jordan Malachai Duett, 23, turned himself in early Wednesday and was then released on a $2,000 bond after being charged with two counts of child abuse. The Sheriff’s Office report said two separate incidents allegedly occured recently involving Duett and two different students.
