TVA reports eclipse of wintertime megawatts usage record
Data readings taken by the Tennessee Valley Authority say customer power demand has already exceeded the wintertime record for megawatts used during the recent storm conditions.
The agency wants customers to conserve their electricity supplies until 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday to help lessen the strain placed on the power grid.
The TVA’s tips include lowering the thermostat to comfortable lower marks, unplugging unused electronics, and postponing the use of any high energy appliances like dishwashers and clothes dryers.
The original winter record was set on December 23, 2022 with 33,427 megawatts.
