TVA asks customers to voluntarily conserve energy during frigid weather

Snowfall yesterday has been followed by rapidly plummeting temperatures across the Tennessee Valley Authority’s service area. Forecasts predict system-wide temperatures will dip into the mid to lower teens leading to a significant increase in power demand. TVA and the 153 local power companies will be implementing energy-saving measures to help. The utility company is asking customers to voluntarily conserve energy specifically during the hours of 7:00 am through 11:00 am Thursday and Friday mornings. Some simple steps include: lowering your thermostat, turning off non-essential appliances and lights and delaying the use of high energy appliances is recommended.
