Town of Unicoi Mayor Bullen adresses rumors of police department defunding; states rumors are false

Recent rumors claim law enforcement actions within the Town of Unicoi are being turned back over to the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office, and Mayor Kathy Bullen released a statement Wednesday morning saying these claims are false.

The Town of Unicoi’s Mayor Bullen says in a press release that “continued rumors of the defunding and dismantling of the Town of Unicoi’s Police Department are just that: rumors.” She says these statements are false, and this will not occur during her term as mayor. She goes on to say the Unicoi Police Department and Chief Slagle have shown their value to the town, and operations are not turning over to the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office.
