THP: Multi vehicle crash on I-81 Saturday near Greene County line

A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 near the Greene County line injured one person Saturday evening. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the seven-vehicle crash happened on I-81 North near mile marker 16, just outside of Greene County. Police say a Kia and a tractor-trailer were both traveling north in the left lane when they collided. The cause for the initial collision of those two vehicles is still under investigation. That initial collision caused a chain reaction accident for a Ford F-150, Chevrolet Sonic and Ford Bronco following behind. A Chevrolet Silverado could not slow down quickly enough and made impact with the Bronco, starting the chain reaction crash. The driver of the Kia Soul was injured in the crash, but the occupants of the other six vehicles were uninjured.
