SWVA COVID Rates Still High, But Not Like What’s Happening In Commonwealth’s Urban Areas
While still very high, Southwest Virginia’s seven day rate of new COVID19 cases has changed very little compared to the situation in Virginia’s urban areas. Figures on Monday show the Commonwealth has reached 517 cases, nearly doubling in just a week. Southwest Virginia recorded 350 cases during that same time frame. Since Christmas, three deaths have been reported in the region, including one each in Buchanan, Scott, and Wise Counties according to figures released from the Virginia Department of Health.
