Suspect identified in Bristol’s Elm Street shooting

An updated Bristol Virginia police report says the alleged gunman in a Tuesday shooting has been arrested and charged.

The statement said Joseph Desandro, 37, is charged with malicious wounding, two weapon charges, reckless handling of a firearm, and possession of drugs.

Investigators determined Desandro and the victim, who remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, had a previous disagreement at an Elm Street gathering and Desandro fired one shot as the victim was walking home.
