Sullivan County Teacher Read To Appeal Recent Firing

While Fired Sullivan County teacher Matthew Hawn meets with supporters on Monday, members of the Sullivan County Board of Education are preparing to listen to Hawn’s appeal on a hearing officer’s recent decision to uphold the county’s move to fire Hawn, when he taught lessons on white privilege and failed to follow curriculum with his students at then Sullivan Central High School. The board will hear Hawn’s request Tuesday in a public hearing in Blountville.
