State dollars being used to preserve thousands of acres in SW Virginia
Thousands of acres in Southwest Virginia will be preserved with work from the state’s Land Conservation Foundation.
In Buchanan, Dickenson, and Wise counties, $1 million is being dedicated to open new access points for outdoor activities including hiking and hunting along the Highlands and Lonesome Pine territories.
Other projects awarded with dollars include a plan to extend the Mendota Trail in Washington County and an initiative to protect nature habitat and Huff Rock in Wise County.
