Smyth County Sheriff’s Office confirms weekend funeral services for fallen deputy

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office has released details of ceremonies honoring Deputy Hunter Reedy this weekend.

Reedy’s family will accept friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services are Saturday at 11 a.m. Both events are being held at the Chilhowie Christian Church.

Reedy died from injuries received during a shootout with a North Carolina suspect. The officer’s graveside service will be a private, family gathering.
