Sewer rate increases in Mount Carmel are going into effect Tuesday. Residents in Mount Carmel are facing a 35% increase on their sewer rate goes into effect on Tuesday. Town leaders say the sewer rates for the town haven’t changed in a decade. The town received an email from the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office in February alerting them they were in financial distress. Officials say there will be a rate review every year to address future rate increases.
