Scott County water tanks at critically low level; residents urged to conserve
The Scott County, VA Public Service Authority says levels are critically low in its water storage tanks due to several main breaks in the Moccasin Gap System, resulting from cold weather. The urgent announcement on Wednesday says tanks will soon be empty, causing outages for areas connected to them.
According to the release, customers in the Moccasin Gap Water System are asked to immediately stop using water for everything but the most essential needs. Localities within this system include Weber City, Yuma, and Kermit. Once water is back to normal, residents should flush all taps until the water becomes clear– this is just to release all excessive air that made its way into broken lines.
Updates will be provided as they become available.
